Did you know..?

-The English Parliament was divided into two: House of Lords, which was composed by the aristocrats and they inherited the seat. The second was the House of Commons, they were elected, but by a very small percentage of male population.

-Each colony except Pennsylvania had a two house legislative. The first one was the Elected Assembly and the second one house was a Council of Prominent Colonist.

-Only Connecticut and Rhode Island elected their own governor.

-In 1770 Lord North was the prime minister of England. He also said, “Men may be popular without being ambitious, but there is hardly an ambitious man who does not try to be popular.”

The French and Indian War

This war was also known as the "Seven Year War", in Europe. To start let us tell you that the French and Indian War is not a war between French and American Indians. I know you probably think its weird, so did we when we first heard it. These was a war when the French and Indian allied to fight the British. France and England fought in the Ohio River Valley. It was such a big war that it spread all through Europe, Asia, West Indies and etc.

At first the British suffered losses between 1756-1757. French destroyed the forts on Lake Ontario and Lake George, by destroying them, the Indians raided the frontier making British week. British took other measures to win this war. They decided to block the shiftments of the French, by doing this French didn’t have food, weapon or money supply and didn't give the Indians what they wanted. All these favored British because now Indians abandoned and it allowed the British to capture the forts that protected the entrance of Saint Lawrence River. Now the British captured Quebec in 1759 and later moved on down the river and captured Montreal in 1760. British also forced the French governor general to surrender the rest of Canada, including their forts around the Great Lakes and Florida.

Finally in 1763, the Treaty of Paris was signed and ended the war. The British won, so that meant they kept: Florida, Canada, Great Lakes, Ohio Valley.
